Congrats to Rick W. for crushing his previous time by 45 minutes (6:20 in 2012, 5:35 in 2013). Chelsey went sub 6 hours and was 22nd in her age group while Carrie was 7th in her age group. Carolyn Hiles had a great day nearly taking the Bronze Medal (was help up because of a bike crash and missed the podium by 11 seconds.). In the same age group, Lesley Miller took Silver with a strong performance after her fantastic Ironman CdA. Tamara did her first ever 70.3 event and had a solid performance. well done! Dawn had a great day as well, earning a Bronze medal and almost a World 70.3 slot... grr. Lisa, coming off her trip to France, rocked a 5th place finish and a PB on the run portion.
Congrats to Danelle Kabush who was 2nd overall Pro female at the Beaver Creek XTERRA! Also congrats to those athletes who completed the 24 hour Mountain Bike race. Heard the event was spectacular! Sylvie, Nicole, Darren, Tom, Bev, John B, Shawn... might be missing a few peeps.
My trip to Toronto had its bumps. Because of lightening strikes, I was stuck on the tarmac in the plane for 1 hour at Pearson Airport, waited for bags for another 2 hours and finally got to accommodations at 4am Toronto time. Not a great start to prepare properly some 30 hours before my big race. Because of the lack of sleep, I slept till 12 noon the next day and had a nap, which ultimately cause a sleepless pre race day (literally). Honestly I don't think I ever fell asleep. I just wanted the morning to come.
Fantastic weekend by CSR athletes!
In the Grand Fondo HighWood Pass (Rocky Mountain House), CSRs Jon Firth won the 40km TT and the Overall 136km race. Tara Kabakoff was 2nd in the 40km TT and 3rd overall but experienced a late start (cost her 1st place in the TT) and flat midway.
I sure wish I could have given those who raced GWN a Hall Pass for todays work day. If you feel like me, a quiet day at home would have been wonderful. What a Team Performance we had yesterday! All athletes at GWN rocked it.
Myron and Kyle also had a life changing experience at Sinister Seven finishing the 128km course solo in 22 hours!
Hi Team,
Team CSR had an awesome weekend! I am so impressed with the performances and it was thrilling watching Darren, Sylvie, Rick, Leslie and Mike P dig deep at IMCdA! Hats off to Darren (11th) and Leslie (6th), Sylvie (14). Sylvie ran by me 6 miles into the marathon and stated that she was going to run the entire marathon. Many of you who have done an Ironman know how hard that task is, but she did it.
What a fantastic weekend our CSR team had at the Chinook Triathlon.
Summer is here and with that we increase our outdoor activities. More time outdoors means more sun exposure. We all need a small amount of time in the sun without sunscreen so that we can produce vitamin D. This statement is supported by the World Health Organization, however the WHO also states that overexposure to UV rays greatly increases the risk for health issues. Somewhere in the middle there is a balance between enjoying the healthy benefits of being in the sun and overexposure.
Some fantastic results from Wasa lake this weekend, wow. Congrats to all those people who participated. Some notable results:
